*There are always off-cuts with canvas and, rather than discarding these, they have been used to create new canvasses, joined together. Not only does this prevent wasted material, it also provides a linear quality and added elements that would otherwise not be present. similar to the Japanese art of Kintsugi.
The paintings do not follow the lines, on the contrary, the painting is created without taking these joins into consideration; the result cannot be foreseen and the colour, shadow and line provide added depth to the composition.
