*There are always off-cuts when cutting canvas and, rather than discarding these, they have been used to create new canvasses, joined together. Not only does this prevent wasted material, it also provides a linear quality and elements that would otherwise not be present - similar to the Japanese art of Kintsugi.
The paintings do not follow the lines, on the contrary, the painting is created without taking these joins into consideration; the result cannot be foreseen and the colour, shadow and line provide added depth to the composition.
